The provision of Sports Skill Class aims to facilitate students to obtain the basic knowledge, skills and practical experience in a chosen sports, and to develop an interest in sports as a lifelong activity. It is one of the two categories of “Self-Directed Experience” of HMAW1905 for your wellness and personal enrichment.
Students are encouraged to attend ALL class sessions and MUST complete at least 9 hours in a sports skill class to meet the HMAW1905 course requirements. Most of the classes are designed to suit the needs of participants who may have no prior knowledge or limited experience in the selected sports activities. Classes in a wide range of sports such as combat activities, fitness and wellness activities as well as individual and team sports are offered. Each class has 12 contact hours while each session is 1.5 hours in duration.
SBM, SHSS and AIS (HMAW1905C, HMAW1905D & HMAW1905E) students would have priority in the class allocation in the Fall Term. Students SENG and SSCI (HMAW1905A & HMAW1905B) would be given priority to join sports skill class in the Spring Term.

SBM, SHSS and AIS (HMAW1905C, HMAW1905D & HMAW1905E) students would have priority in the class allocation in the Fall Term. Students from SENG and SSCI (HMAW1905A & HMAW1905B) would be given priority to join sports skill class in the Spring Term.
Students are advised to register in a class ONLY when they can attend at least 6 sessions of the selected class.
Enrolment in sports skill classes will be handled through on-line application and add/drop process.

A. On-line Application by HMAW1905 Students (11 to 13 February 2026)
Please click here to submit the online application from 11 to 13 February 2026. A special strategy to increase your chance for sports skill class enrolment is to submit up to a maximum of 10 choices that fit your timetable.
Class allocation will be based on the sequence of random number assigned by computer program. All selected choices (up to 10 choices) of each student will be considered. Please take the following steps to start your enrollment:
a. Click "Sports Skill Class (HMAW1905-Recognised)" under "My Studies" in the STUDENT INTRANET;
b. Choose "Apply for Skill Classes";
c. Enter “SK202526” at the “Activity Code”;
d. Click "Search" under the Class/Event Code to display the full list of class codes and select the class according to your preference.
Students will be allocated a maximum of ONE sports skill class through the online application.
B. Results of the online application will be announced on Monday, 23 February 2026 after 5 pm
Please check the allocation results of sports skill class in Spring Term 2025-26 by following the steps below:
a. Click "Sports Skill Class (HMAW1905-Recognised)" under "My Studies" in the STUDENT INTRANET;
b. Choose "Confirmed Enrollment".
C. On-line ADD/DROP Sports Skill Class (25 February 2026)
In case a class is NOT ALLOCATED to you OR you wish to swap your allocated class to those still have available seats, you can perform the online add/drop arrangement from 9:00 am, 25 Feb (Wed) by following the steps below:
The registration will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
a. Click "Sports Skill Class (HMAW1905-Recognised)" under "My Studies" in the STUDENT INTRANET;
b. Choose "Event Enrollment";
c. Select “Add” if a class is not allocated to you or “Swap” if you wish to swap your allocated class to those still have available seats;
d. Enter "SK202526" at the "Activity code";
e. Click "Search" under the Class/Event Code and then choose to show only events with available seats.
f. Select the class that fits your schedule and Click “Confirm Add” or “Confirm Swap” to confirm your enrolment.
Participants MUST attend the first session to know the important information related to the class (safety measures, adverse weather arrangement and class requirements, etc.).
To avoid interruption and hindering the learning progress, participants should arrive the venue on time. The instructor may turn away participants who are late for more than 10 minutes.
Please present your Student ID card and report to the class instructor for recording attendance at the specified class venue before the starting time of the class. The attendance hours are to be awarded based on attendance AND active participation. Failure to complete the attendance and participation requirements of the class would be taken as not satisfying the course requirements and the related attendance hours will NOT be recognized and recorded.
Participants should dress in proper sportswear / attire as specified. The class instructor may refuse participants with inappropriate clothing or footwear to attend the class. Non-marking sports shoes should be worn for indoor sports and tennis.
In the first session of each class, participants must inform the class instructor if they have any medical problems that might hinder them from participating in physical activity safely.
- When the Amber or Red Rainstorm Warning or Typhoon Signal No. 1 or 3 is in effect, all sessions will be held as scheduled.
- When a Black Rainstorm Warning is in force, all sessions that have not yet started will be cancelled. Sessions that are already in progress will normally continue until the end. Stay indoors and do not leave until the warning is cancelled and conditions are safe.
- When Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above is to be issued within 2 hours (pre-No. 8), all sessions that have not yet started will be cancelled. Sessions that are already in progress will continue until the end.
- When "Extreme Conditions" after Super Typhoons, all sessions will be cancelled. Subject to the University's announcement.
- No Zoom sessions will be held for the Sports Skill Class, and attendance will not be recorded for any sessions cancelled due to bad weather. Make-up arrangements for the cancelled session will be scheduled later. Please watch out for the related email from Sports Development, DSTO.
- If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning is LOWERED
- at or before 6:30 am, sessions starting from 9 am and onwards will be held as scheduled.
- at or before 12 noon, sessions starting from 3 pm and onwards will be held as scheduled, while sessions starting before 3 pm will be cancelled.
- after 12 noon, all sessions on that day will be cancelled.
