Hong Kong is known to be one of the safest cities in the world. Unfortunately, we are not immune from the global trend of rising scams and fraud, which is a top crime world-wide. According to local statistics, students are primary targets of scammers in Hong Kong. Many had fallen victims to scammer's ever-changing tricks, incurring financial loss and emotional distress. As such, the University is offering this Anti-Scam Challenge (ASCM1000) to all new students, in collaboration with the HKSAR Government. It aims to raise student's awareness towards common scam tricks / topics, alert you about possible responses, and walk you through some prevention tips. By participating in this challenge, we hope you could gain a better understanding of scams and be scam-smart.You MUST pass the challenge by 22 Feb 2026 (23:59) to maintain access to all library resources (including all electronic resources and physical access). (Passing = 50% correct). Late registrants who join the University after 22 Jan 2026 will need to complete the challenge before they could access Library resources. If you pass the challenge after the deadline above, access to the Library will normally resume within the next two days. For enquiries, email antiscam@ust.hk.
