The Alumni Endowment Fund Athletic Awards, established in 2012/13, aim at recognizing the achievements of HKUST students in sports and their contribution to sports development. The Awards are supported by an annual allocation of funding from the Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF).

- Personal Achievement in Sports
- Award(s) to the individual(s) who have achieved outstanding performance in international competition, local/open competition, intervarsity competition and others. The scope of sports recognized includes all those with National Sports Associations affiliated to any National Olympic Committee under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee.
- When more than one individual has the same achievement, the award shall be shared equally.
- Team Achievement in Sports
- Award to the HKUST Team ranked highest (achieving a top 4 position) in international competition, local/open competition, intervarsity competition, or other recognized competitions. The scope of sports recognized includes all those with National Sports Associations affiliated to any National Olympic Committee under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee.
- When more than one team achieves the same highest ranking, the award shall be shared equally.
- Outstanding Sports Group
- Award to a sports group (or groups) demonstrating outstanding contributions through organizing impactful university-wide sports events for students, the university, and the wider community; showcasing excellent team spirit; and serving as role models for actively promoting sports at HKUST.
- Selection of Awardees
- The Selection Panel, consisting of staff and student representatives, will assess applications and select the awardees based on the assessment criteria.
- Achievement without documentary proof will not be accepted or considered by the Panel.
The selection should be open and fair, ensuring that award recipients well deserve the honor.
If no suitable awardee is identified in a particular category in a given year, no award will be issued for that category.

Cash awards amount for each Award:
- Personal Achievement in Sports: Maximum of HK$5,000
- Team Achievement in Sports: Maximum of HK$5,000
- Outstanding Sports Group: Maximum of HK$5,000
A Certificate of Achievement will be presented to each awardee.
Nomination/Application forms, together with supporting documents such as copies of certificates (wherever applicable), must be submitted by e-mail to the Secretary of the Sports Awards Committee at aefsports@ust.hk on or before 3 August 2026. Nominations/Applications will only be processed if all supporting documents are received. Late applications/nominations will not be considered.
Eligibility:
- All full-time HKUST students, including undergraduate, postgraduate and exchange-in students.
Nomination:
- All members of the University are welcome to nominate candidates for the Awards.
