Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese martial art practiced for both self-defence and health benefits. It is also famous for multiple reasons: its yang and yin martial art technique, demonstration competitions, and claimed longevity. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims. Some of Tai Chi's training forms are especially known for being practiced at what most people categorize as slow movement.
Today, Tai Chi has spread worldwide. Most modern styles of Tai Chi trace their development to at least one of the five traditional schools: Chen, Yang, Wu (Hao), Wu, and Sun. The Club currently practice the Wu style.
The Tai Chi Society, HKUSTSU was founded in 1996, currently coached by it's founding Club President Mr NG Chung Tak. New members with or without any martial arts experience are all welcomed to join.
