A. Disagreements between different student groups and communities

The University encourages the HKUST community to embrace the diversity found amongst its body of members and value the differences in opinions and ideas this creates. Such exposure greatly enriches the learning experience and development of our students.  Regardless of the students’ origin, background and/or political stance, the University renders support to all its students as appropriate and will continue to handle student matters in a fair and non-discriminatory manner. When student conduct is brought into question:

  1. the University will engage in thorough investigations and any necessary follow-up actions in response to the reported issue; and,
  2. the University may take disciplinary action against any student who commits a misconduct as determined by either the Dean of Students or Student Disciplinary Committee of the University Council.

To illustrate the University's approach - please consult the following incidents and the University's response.
