The Roy To Community Service Award was established in June 2008 in memory of Mr. Roy To, an HKUST graduate who passed away in a traffic accident on a service trip to Inner Mongolia organized by the World Emergency Relief. 

 

Launched in March 2012, the Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF) has received immense support from our alumni. A group of alumni who had rewarding experiences in servicing fellow students, the University and/or the community during their student lives would like to encourage more students to get involved and care about the society and people around. Thus, they have donated to the AEF and would like to use the interest income of the fund to honour students who have demonstrated strong commitment and leadership in volunteer services and contributed to the community with proven track records.​

Aim
The award aims to recognize HKUST students with an exceptional contribution to community service.

 

Eligibility
Full-time UG and PG students with a proven track record of continuous and active participation in community service.

 

The award will be presented every year to the HKUST student who best exemplifies the service spirit for which the late Mr. Roy To is remembered. A cash award of $5,000 and a medal will be presented to the awardee.

 

The award will be presented to a maximum of five HKUST students who have shown continuous devotion in volunteer services with proven leadership and organizational ability. A cash award of $5,000 will be presented to each awardee.

 

Application/Nomination
Applications/nominations are to be made by the submission of online application form.

Selection
The Selection Panel, composed of faculty, staff members, alumni and student representatives, will base on the proven track records provided to select the awardee. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to meet with the Selection Panel.
